The company TAMEX Obiekty Sportowe has been appointed contractor for the modernization of the municipal stadium in Bolesławiec. The redevelopment includes the construction of a Category IVA track together with the necessary warm-up facilities. Official athletics competitions under the auspices of the Polish Athletics Association will be able to take place there. The pitch dimensions allow football matches for the PZPN third-league championship to be played.
The athletics stadium will be equipped with: a 400 m oval athletics track (6 oval lanes and 8 straight lanes); two high-jump runways; two double-runway long-jump and triple-jump facilities; a two-sided pole-vault facility; two javelin-throw areas; a discus- and hammer-throw area; two shot-put areas; and a water pit for steeplechase events.
Inside the track, a natural-grass pitch with a playing area measuring 64x100 m is planned. Lighting and an irrigation system will be installed. The pitch will also include technical infrastructure for hosting athletics competitions. Professional football goals will be installed behind the goal lines. The goals will be dismantled during athletics competitions. The pitch will be equipped with covered stadium benches for substitute players and a shelter for referees.
The complex will include, among other facilities: a warm-up shot-put area; a warm-up track with a long-jump and triple-jump facility; and mobile stadium benches for substitute players from both teams. The next stage of the investment includes construction of stands. The covered stands will be located on the Spółdzielcza Street side. They will accommodate approximately 900 people.
The contract is worth PLN 24,489,968. The contract is co-financed with PLN 4,500,000 from the Government Polish Deal Fund: Strategic Investment Programme, and PLN 1,999,900 from the Physical Culture Development Fund as part of the Sportowa Polska – Local Sports Infrastructure Development Programme – 2021 Edition.
Because of the municipal stadium renovation, BKS teams will play their matches only until the end of April. Since the stadium grounds are already a construction site, the final matches are being played without spectators for safety reasons.
The BKS first team will play two more matches at Spółdzielcza: against Apis Jędrzychowice on 15 April and Łużyce Lubań on 29 April. The second team will probably also play at Spółdzielca against GKS Tomaszów Bolesławiecki on 30 April.
After that, the club will have to play its matches at another venue. The options include venues in Pieńsk, Świętoszów, Raciborowice or Bolesławiec, at Spacerowa Street. We will report the final choice of venue once a decision has been made.
