Both programmes are carried out by the Lower Silesian Sports Federation in Wrocław, with co-financing from the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and from Gromadka Municipality, and are enjoying great interest among the local community. Gromadka Municipality registered a larger number of participants for both programmes, but demand exceeded the organiser’s capacity.
The “I CAN SWIM” programme is attended by 15 pupils from grades 1–3 of the Primary School in Gromadka and 15 pupils from the Primary Schools in Osła and Modła, as these classes are intended for them. Swimming lessons will take place from 4 April 2023 to 13 June 2023, consisting of 10 lessons lasting 90 minutes each.
The “I SWIM FURTHER” project continues the “I Can Swim” swimming programme. It is addressed to pupils in grades 4–8 who already have basic swimming skills. Fifteen pupils from the Primary School in Gromadka are taking part in the programme, which runs from 1 March 2023 to 10 May 2023 and consists of 10 lessons lasting 120 minutes each.
The lessons are conducted by a swimming instructor with the appropriate qualifications and authorisations, while Gromadka Municipality provides a supervisor responsible for the children’s safety during their time at the pool. The programme provides for children’s regular and widespread participation in free extracurricular sports activities. On weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the “Dolnośląski Delfinek” swimming pool serves schoolchildren by enriching their physical education lessons, while in the afternoon it enables children from Gromadka Municipality to participate in organised activities that have a tangible impact on their physical development and, consequently, benefit their health. This fulfils one of the swimming pool’s priority tasks in the municipality.
