At around 4 p.m., the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec received a report from the Emergency Notification Centre about a young girl walking along the tracks from the direction of Zgorzelec. – As every minute could have played an enormous role in this situation, a police patrol from the Zgorzelec unit immediately went to the indicated area – reports asp. szt. Łukasz Dutkowiak, press spokesperson for KWP in Wrocław.

He adds: – The officers did not see anyone, however, so they decided to carefully check the further section of the railway and, after a while, noticed a person walking along the tracks from the viaduct.

The girl was about a kilometre away from the officers, so one of the policemen ran along the tracks after her, while the other drove to the next railway culvert. As he hurried towards the teenager, at one point he heard a train’s warning signal. The spokesperson: – He began waving his arms and giving the driver signals indicating that the train needed to stop.

He further explains:

The situation was dynamic; the teenager did not respond to the policeman’s calls or commands, and when she heard the locomotive, she stopped and crouched down.

Fortunately, the train stopped several metres from the young woman. At that moment, the officers reached her and took her to the nearest station. A medical rescue team had already arrived there; it took her away and placed her in the care of specialist doctors.

The officers:

If you are experiencing an emotional crisis, do not be afraid to seek help from specialists and call, for example, 116 123, a free helpline for adults, or 116 111 for children and young people.
