In an email to the editorial office entitled “Less oxygen, more stench on Gałczyński Street…” A reader wrote:
During the birds’ breeding season, on this street leading out of the Piastów housing estate, they drastically deprived them not only of branches but also of parts of larger limbs.
She added:
These trees were a natural refuge for birds, and their leaves provided life-giving oxygen. It will take them a dozen or so years to return to their original state.
As we managed to establish, these were maintenance cuts, carried out every year in spring so that it would be safer and no branch would fall on anyone’s head.
