A draw with the leaders (Karkonosze Jelenia Góra, 1–1) and a victory over the runners-up in the western group of the fourth division (Prochowiczanka Prochowice, 2–1) are a pleasant surprise not only in Bolesławiec, but also throughout the entire football district. People are talking, writing and discussing it.
The club, which has a modest budget compared with other fourth-division clubs in the region and relies primarily on its own academy graduates, is proving that a solid team can be built around local players. The footballers from Spółdzielcza greatly lack a full-size artificial pitch for training during the autumn and winter period. However, the determination of the management, coaches and players themselves has meant that, despite the difficulties, the spring round began very successfully for the footballers from Spółdzielcza.
After the draw with Karkonosze, fans—including those on internet forums—wondered whether the result might have been a fluke. The next match against the runners-up from Prochowice proved that it was not. Quite the opposite. Like in the match against the leaders from Jelenia Góra, the BKS footballers played with incredible motivation. This style of play and these results are all the more surprising because, historically, BKS’s spring rounds were generally weaker and usually worse than its autumn rounds.
This time, the team began the spring round in fine style, which allows them to look optimistically toward the goal, that lies ahead of the team—remaining in the fourth division in Bolesławiec. BKS’s first team is an ambitious, young side. Since many junior players are part of the squad, it can be said that it is currently the youngest team in the league in terms of the players’ average age. The young BKS team plays attractive, dynamic football. In its last two matches, it played boldly and without an inferiority complex. Fans following the play and results of the footballers from Spółdzielcza had certainly been waiting for such a BKS.
If next Saturday, September 25, at 3:00 p.m., BKS maintains its good run in the match against Górnik Złotoryja, it will be possible to write that the people of Bolesławiec are Knights of Spring. Saturday’s match against Górnik will be played at the stadium on Spółdzielcza Street. The fact that BKS academy graduates Daniel Ziółkowski and Oskar Małecki will play for the visiting team adds extra spice. Meanwhile, Filip Zagórski will play for BKS; last season, he played for Górnik. It is also worth noting that Michał Piotrowski is Górnik Złotoryja’s goalkeeper, while his brother Gabriel plays in midfield for BKS.
Watch the winning goal from BKS’s latest match against Prochowiczanka Prochowice (Goal scorer: Jakub Czarnecki. Assist: Gabriel Piotrowski).
