As Bolesławiec resident Sławek Gortych reported on his social media profile:
“THE SHELTER THAT CEASED TO EXIST”—THE STORY OF A FORGOTTEN SHELTER IN THE KARKONOSZE MOUNTAINS, WHICH DISAPPEARED WITHOUT A TRACE—HAS BECOME THE BOOK OF THE YEAR IN THE LARGEST NATIONWIDE BOOK POLL!!!!
The book by the Bolesławiec writer won in the debut category in the poll organized by the lubimyczytac.pl portal. The organizers:
The Lubimyczytać service recognizes not only promoters of reading online, but also authors who are taking their first steps in the book market. That is why this year the poll featured the Debut category for the second time, with 10 nominated titles from various genres, including literary fiction, reportage, crime fiction and biographies.
– Thanks to the books nominated in the Debut category, readers have the chance to take a closer look at the work of lifeguards or learn about the behind-the-scenes challenges of working in the capital’s emergency medical service. They can learn the story of Father Jan Kaczkowski, but also one radically different from it—that of Mariusz, dubbed “the Polish Fritzl” by the media, who imprisoned his wife in a basement for two years. Finally, they can find out whether there is love after Auchwitz or take a journey to the Karkonosze Mountains, to the shelter that ceased to exist – says Aneta Jokiel-Pawlak of Lubimyczytać.
