Officers from Police Station II in Jelenia Góra charged a 70-year-old hunter with killing a dog. – As officers established, on November 10 last year, while on an individual hunting trip in a forest complex in Piechowice, the man deliberately and without justification shot a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog worth PLN 3,000 – reports Sub-Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer for the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police Headquarters.
She adds: – The hunter, who was in a hunting stand, noticed the dog running around after it briefly moved away from its owner, and then shot it.
The police emphasize:
The dog posed no threat whatsoever – either to animals or to people.
When the 70-year-old heard the dog's owner calling for his pet, he put the animal's body in his car and then dumped it near a river. That was where it was found.
The 70-year-old now faces up to three years in prison.
