Today marks the anniversary of the tragic death of a soldier of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade – Cpl. Hubert Kowalewski.

On February 26, 2008, during the second rotation of the Polish Military Contingent in Afghanistan, a Humvee vehicle drove over a mine. As a result of the explosion, one soldier was wounded and two died at the scene – including Senior Private Hubert Kowalewski. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of corporal.
