The triathlon Adrian is preparing for at #NaPolanie will last 365 days and will include approximately: 1,205 km (67 days x 18 km) of swimming, 31,132 km (155 days x 200 km) of cycling, and 7,833 km of running (143 days x 55 km). In total, this will amount to more than 40,000 kilometres travelled by human foot (in water and on land, including running and cycling) around the world.
Adrian Kostera writes the following about his challenge and how it can inspire others to take healthy action:
When I endure the hardships of my challenge for a year, I deeply believe that 40 million Poles will take something from it for themselves. Of course, no one will want to run 100 kilometres to work tomorrow, but perhaps someone who would otherwise turn off the alarm with a grimace and go back to sleep will think of my hardship and get up.
Perhaps someone, seeing the dreadful weather outside, will decide not to go out, but then remember me and carry out what they had planned. Perhaps someone aged 30, 40, 50 or older will believe that it is never too late to fulfil their dreams. I could list endlessly the enormous potential for positive change that my challenge has. Through my challenge, I promote sport and a healthy lifestyle, encourage people to find their passions, urge them to seek within themselves the strength to take action and to pursue their passions, fight for their dreams, and become a better version of themselves every day.
You will be able to meet Adrian Kostera in person at the Dolnośląskim Centrum Sportu #NaPolanie on 11 and 12 February.
