In January, a badly injured roe deer arrived at the Klekusiowo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. The animal was seriously injured in an accident. The story was described on Klekusiowo’s Facebook profile:

It bounced off a truck and hit a passenger car

We received a report from a female official from Gmina Bolesławiec about an injured roe deer. We knew the situation was serious. When we arrived at the animal, the police were already there. The roe deer was badly battered. Its hind leg was terribly fractured. Amputation was the only option. We were very concerned about its life. The doe had suffered numerous injuries and was also very frightened and in shock. Fortunately, after a few days, its condition finally began to improve.

It looks like we will have another Marti the Lame. We are still worried about her health, but everything indicates that the animal will recover. Perhaps not fully, but it is possible to function on three limbs—as Marti proved to us. How about an auction to choose her name? We need to give our ward a name.

Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of Klekusiowo’s staff, the doe is slowly recovering. Proof of this is a video that the centre posted on its profile. Despite the missing limb, the doe is trying to move around independently, exploring its surroundings and beginning to look for food on its own.

The injured doe is recovering
