The incident took place in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lwówek Śląski. During Midnight Mass, one of the participants climbed into the pulpit and, using vulgar language, insulted the faithful and priests present at the service.

(...) One of the Mass participants climbed into the pulpit and began expressing his views, using strong language and insulting the priests present at Mass. The faithful, initially surprised by the entire incident, became increasingly indignant with each successive word and decided to intervene themselves and force the man back down to the floor.

Olga Łukaszewicz, senior sergeant and press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski, confirms, as reported by the local news service, that such an incident occurred:

During Mass, an intoxicated man stormed into the pulpit and expressed his views while using vulgar language and insulting the assembled faithful and priests. The situation was immediately addressed by asp. szt. Wojciech Tyczkowski, head of the District Officers’ Unit at the Lwówek police headquarters, who was attending Mass off duty and, together with other worshippers, led the troublemaker out of the church while calling a police patrol to the scene.

The 36-year-old resident of Lwówek Śląski was detained by the police and placed in a police cell. The man has already been charged. Insulting religious feelings is punishable by up to two years in prison.
