Renovation of the road surfaces on Mała and Piaskowa streets has been completed. New pavements made of concrete paving blocks, kerbs, edging and special slabs informing visually impaired people that they are entering a pedestrian crossing have been installed.
An additional street lamp has been installed in the courtyard at Partyzantów and Zgorzelecka streets. Stone-paving street gutters have been constructed along the kerbs, while inspection chambers have been adjusted and storm drains replaced. More than PLN 627,000 was allocated for this purpose from the city budget. The contractor is a company from Nowogrodziec.
New roads
Construction of a side road on Obrońców Westerplatte Street has been completed. The new road, together with a pedestrian route, has been laid with concrete paving blocks. The works included street drainage, installation of a cable line for street lighting and the placement of lighting poles with energy-saving lamps. The investment is worth more than PLN 86,000.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian and roadway route made of concrete paving blocks has been built on Domeyki Street. The street surface is made of grey blocks, while the driveway surfaces are made of red blocks. The street ends in a manoeuvring area measuring 16 by 11 metres. The works are worth more than PLN 127,000. Both investments were carried out by a company from Brzeźnik.
Town hall steps renovated
Work on the renovation and conservation of the side steps of Bolesławiec Town Hall was completed in June this year. The cost of the works amounted to PLN 122,000. The contractor is a company from Nowa Wieś Grodziska near Pielgrzymka.
New courtyard on Spokojna
The Municipal Housing Management Company in Bolesławiec has completed work on redeveloping the facilities on Spokojna Street. A fence made of clinker brick with wooden panels has been built in the renovated courtyard. The area has been drained. The road surface, pavements and access paths to the building have been made of paving blocks. Lawns and benches have been added to the courtyard. The works are worth more than PLN 97,000. The work was carried out by a company from Bolesławiec.
City co-finances renovations of county roads
The municipal government is contributing to the costs of redeveloping the county roads Karola Miarki and Żwirki i Wigury. The agreement on co-financing the project was signed on 11 March 2009. The redevelopment of the roads is 25 percent financed from the Bolesławiec city budget. Almost PLN 1,657,000 has been earmarked for this purpose in the city budget for 2010.
The redevelopment of Leśna Street, Śluzowa Street and Piastowski Square is also being carried out with financial support from the municipal government. The works include replacing pavement surfaces with paving blocks, renovating the roadway, replacing 27 road-lighting lamps together with their power cables, and constructing new parking spaces on the section from Gdańska Street to the main entrance to the cemetery.
The contractor is a company from Jelenia Góra. The works cost almost PLN 1,596,000. The project is 50 percent co-financed by the National Local Roads Reconstruction Programme 2008–2011.
Car park renovation in the city centre
The renovation of the car park surface is under way in Piłsudskiego Square. The works include removing the old surface, installing a two-layer bituminous surface and renovating part of the pavements. The contractor is a company from Rząsiny near Gryfów. The investment is worth almost PLN 194,000. The funds come from the Bolesławiec city budget.
More attractive leisure and play areas
Modernisation of the facilities in the old-town built-up area has begun. Seven courtyards will undergo comprehensive renovation. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the Regional Operational Programme for the Lower Silesian Voivodeship for 2007–2013.
The courtyards being modernised will be equipped with recreational and sports facilities: swings, slides, carousels, mini basketball courts, table-tennis tables and more. The new layout of the courtyards and their equipment was planned following consultations with residents. The contractor is a company from Karpacz. The contract value is PLN 5,350,000.
