Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław, working together with officers of Zollfahndungsamt Dresden Dienstsitz Görlitz, inspected the A4 motorway near Jędrzychowice.
– During the joint Polish-German inspection, KAS and ZOLL officers stopped a passenger car travelling from Poland to Germany. The car, which had Polish registration plates, was directed to a parking area near the Ludwigsdorf/Jędrzychowice border crossing (on the German side) – reports Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, press spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS. – In the boot, the officers found 16,500 packs of illegal cigarettes without Polish or German excise duty markings.
She adds:
If the seized tobacco products had been sold in Poland, the state budget would have lost over PLN 309,000 in unpaid excise duty.
