Construction commissioning at Delfinek has been underway since mid-November; at the beginning of 2023, the swimming pool is to be ready for the residents of the municipality. The facility will have a main pool (8.5 m wide, 16.67 m long, with a depth ranging from 135 cm to 90 cm), two saunas and two training rooms, which have not yet been developed.
The Mayor of Gromadka is completing the investment started by his predecessor, Dariusz Pawliszczy. The construction of Delfinek cost nearly 12 million zlotys. The construction of Delfinek was co-financed by the Ministry of Sport from the Physical Culture Development Fund under the Sportowa Polska 2020 programme, in the amount of two and a half million zlotys, and by the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in the amount of PLN 1,250,000.00.
“I am completing this project because any other decision would have been uneconomical,” says Ryszard Kawka. “The total cost of building the swimming pool, taking the current situation into account, is PLN 11,968,164. From the beginning, my view was that we should first secure the basic necessities—access roads and water supply systems—and only then build a swimming pool. Delfinek will certainly serve our children. The facility will be administered by the headmaster of the school in Gromadka, and there will be swimming clubs and swimming lessons for children,” the mayor added.
Grzegorz Koziar, deputy head of the school in Gromadka, has a plan for the new swimming pool.
“Once a week, as part of physical education classes, every class will go to the swimming pool,” says Grzegorz Koziar. “For now, it will be one hour with a physical education teacher. We want to expand the offer for nearby schools and municipalities. Not only for children, but also for older people. We are planning water aerobics and activities for seniors,” the deputy head added.
Małgorzata Kozińska, the pool manager, adds that at the beginning of Delfinek’s operation, school classes will take place there in the morning, while in the afternoon it will serve residents of the municipality and beyond.
What will the swimming pool admission prices be?
Children will certainly be exempt from fees for using the swimming pool as part of school activities. The price list is still being prepared on the basis of prices at nearby swimming pools.
