– The marathon takes place every year around December 10, when Human Rights Day is celebrated around the world. Amnesty International scheduled the 21st edition of its campaign this year for November 28 to December 11, 2022. During this time, letters were written in various places around the world in defence of specific people whose human rights had been violated – reports Irena Sikora-Kołodyńska, head of Primary School No. 2 in Bolesławiec.
She adds:
At Primary School No. 2, we began writing on December 2 at 7:00 p.m. and finished the following day at 7:00 a.m. Our result was 469 letters. This year, the main theme of the Marathon is the right to peaceful assembly. We wrote about: Nasser Zefzafi, Aleksandra Skoczylenko, Shahnewaz Chowdhury, Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, Zineb Redouane and Dorgelesse Nguessan.
And she adds: – The Write for Rights Marathon is one of the largest events in Poland and around the world engaging so many people in defending human rights. We are pleased that once again we were able to join this campaign.
