The K-1 European Championships were held in Turkey, in Antalya, and lasted from November 11 to 20, 2022. Kamil Dychała, a competitor representing UKS Korio Gym Ruszów-Bolesławiec, represented Poland in the -71 kg category.
Club:
Kamil stormed through the qualifiers. In his first bout, he faced a Dane, whom he knocked out at the beginning of the first round. In the second bout, he faced an Austrian, whom he also knocked out at the beginning of the second round.
In the semifinal, Kamil fought a Turk, the host of the championships. The bout was very close and intense. Our athlete won it 3:0 and advanced to the European Championship final, where he faced a Croatian, the reigning world runner-up.
Kamil entered this bout badly bruised and tired. Despite that, he won and controlled the fight for two rounds, but in the third round the fatigue became so overwhelming that the Croatian took advantage of it and narrowly won on points.
Coach of UKS Korio Gym Ruszów-Bolesławiec Dariusz Dychała: – If this final had taken place the next day, I am convinced that our athlete would have won it.
He adds: – We would like to thank Primary School No. 4 in Bolesławiec for making the sports hall available.
