On Saturday and Sunday (June 26 and 27), in Stary Węgliniec the jubilee 10th Midsummer Night will take place. The organizers have prepared many attractions. A camp of Slavic warriors will be set up by the Sawmill Pond. On Saturday afternoon, there will be combat demonstrations, followed in the evening by the main reenactment of Slavic customs associated with Midsummer Night. On Sunday evening, the Midsummer Night Queen and her husband will be chosen. For both days of the event, children will have access to a playground where, under the guidance of warriors, they can learn sword fighting and throwing weapons at a target. Games and activities, as well as archery, will also be organized.
Numerous competitions will be a particular attraction. Horse enthusiasts can take part in a show-jumping competition or western riding competitions. DIY enthusiasts can construct an unusual vehicle for the Swimming on Anything competition (“anything” is a vehicle that moves naturally across the water; the idea, construction and imagination all count). Everyone who enjoys outdoor activity is encouraged to participate in the family cycling trip “In Search of the Fern Flower,” as well as beach volleyball matches.
The star of Saturday evening will be Gosia Andrzejewicz, known for many pop hits, such as “Słowa,” “Otwórz oczy” and “Zabierz mnie.” The singer has worked with DJ Remo and the duo Kalwi & Remi. On Sunday, the five-member pop-rock group Flowers will perform, featuring charismatic vocalist—and “Szansa na Sukces” laureate—Małgorzata Pauka. The folk-ethnic group Ęzibaba and hip-hop band Vea Victis will also appear on stage.
