On Saturday, June 5, a uniformed services festival was held in Krępnica to mark Children’s Day. Among other things, the youngest participants could take a ride in a motorboat. Competitions included grenade, knife and throwing-star throwing, tug-of-war, assembling and disassembling weapons against the clock, and shooting with air weapons.
Festival participants also had the opportunity to watch demonstrations by the bomb-disposal patrol, police, fire service and Military Police.
The police stand also attracted attention. Officers presented equipment used in their daily service. The youngest visitors were offered coloring books and crossword puzzles. It was also possible to have a photo taken with Komisarz Lew himself.
The program also included artistic performances. Dance and vocal groups from the Youth Cultural Centre, the Tierra Flamenca group and the Brass Band from the School Complex of Economics and Technology in Rakowice Wielkie performed before the audience.
Promotional and information stands of the 23rd Artillery Brigade, the Military Recruitment Office, the Military Police and the Polish Red Cross were open during the festival.
As usual, the military pea soup proved very popular. Saturday’s event attracted more than 600 participants.
The festival was organized by the Association of the 62nd Special Company “Commando” and the 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade.
