Before the start of the September session of the County Council, an awards and congratulatory letter ceremony was held for the competition for the “Most Beautiful Traditional Harvest Festival Wreath of Bolesławiec County”.

Bolesławiec County:

The invited delegations from the winning villages received diplomas and vouchers to be used at PSB Mrówka Bolesławiec. For taking first place, the Kraśnik Dolny village received a voucher worth PLN 1,200. Second place went to the Ocice village, with a prize worth PLN 800, while ex aequo third place was won by the villages of Wartowice and Świętoszów, with PLN 500 vouchers each. The villages of Trzebień and Łaziska received honorable mentions.

In the second part of the meeting, Bolesławiec County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak thanked Ms Sonia Turzyniecka for exemplary promotion of Bolesławiec County at the European Armwrestling Championships and congratulated her on her impressive results at the championships in Rumia.

Bolesławiec County on the competition for the “Most Beautiful Traditional Harvest Festival Wreath of Bolesławiec County”:

The aim of the competition is to promote and preserve traditions associated with harvest festival ceremonies, present the abundance of crops woven into the wreaths, and select entries with the highest ethnographic and artistic value for the provincial-level competition.

The competition committee decided which wreath would represent the County at the Lower Silesian harvest festival. The differences in scores were small.

The wreaths were assessed by a committee consisting of:

  • Tomasz Gabrysiak, Bolesławiec County Head – chair;
  • Katarzyna Zięba – Head of the Education, Culture and Sport Department;
  • Joanna Mysłek-Michnowska – graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts, teacher at the Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec;
  • Emilia Michałowska from the County Promotion Unit.
