Thanks to cooperation with Łódź's Se-ma-for, special film attractions have been prepared at Forum cinema for Children's Day. On this day, the cinema will be decorated like film premieres in Hollywood. Children will be greeted by fairy-tale stars walking along the red carpet. It will also be possible to see one of the best-known film awards: the Oscar statuette.

Programme:

  • an exhibition of set designs for the film “Danny Boy”, accompanied by a screening of the film on a plasma screen in the cinema lobby
  • a meeting with characters from the fairy tales “Miś Uszatek” and “Piotruś i Wilk”, with whom visitors will be able to take photographs
  • the opportunity to have a photograph taken on the red carpet with an Oscar statuette
  • a presentation of the films “Mokra Bajeczka”, “Piotruś i Wilk”, “Radoszki” and “Parauszek” (a 60-minute screening in the cinema)

On June 1, the organisers invite visitors to Forum cinema twice. The first meeting is at 11:00 a.m. (for organised groups), and the second at 4:00 p.m. (for individual viewers). Admission is free. Seats can be reserved at the cinema box office and on the website.

“Danny Boy” – exhibition and film

Children visiting Forum cinema will be able to see a special exhibition of decorations from the film “Danny Boy” from Łódź's “Muzeum bajek”. The film tells the extraordinary story of a town inhabited by people without heads and a boy with a head who is different from everyone else and seeks acceptance among the residents. The story is full of sudden and surprising events and conveys a profound idea about how we can mutilate ourselves so that others will accept us. The fairy tale is worth watching with an older child, so that you can discuss it together afterwards.

The exhibition of decorations offers an insight into animation cinema behind the scenes. Some of the puppets displayed at the exhibition have mechanisms corresponding to human joints, allowing them to be animated (so that they can move, walk, run and wave their arms). Each one must be moved by hand by an animator, who changes the position of all the puppets on the set in accordance with the film's action. When producing an animated film with puppets, one can shoot one to two seconds of film per day, and only when the animator has suitable experience. The set design for the film “Danny Boy”, which can be admired at the cinema, took three months to create.

Two co-creators of the set design from the Se-ma-for studio, Bartłomiej Kaszubski and Krzysztof Wierzbowski, told us about the making of the film “Danny Boy”. The exhibition in the lobby of Forum cinema will be open for two weeks.
