Who Is Adam Szulc?

Adam Szulc was born in 1971 in Poznań. He is currently a men’s hairdresser and, interestingly, he has known since childhood that this is what he would become. Apart from hairdressing, he is also passionate about world history and rock music.

Together with his brother and friends, Adam formed a rock band called Topór. He wrote lyrics and played the drums. Later, he was also a member of other bands, including Parlament, Hacesja, Dead Division and Cymeon.

Adam Szulc obtained his men’s hairdressing journeyman qualification at the Hairdressing and Cosmetics Cooperative. In 1992, he passed his secondary-school leaving examination and the examination to become a Hairdressing Technician. A few years later, he obtained his master craftsman qualification. He also studied at the Clothing School Complex in Poznań! Hairdressing and music accompanied him throughout his entire journey. In 2000, he co-founded his own hairdressing establishment, and since 2016 he has run his barber shop, Jama. He works with many respected companies in the hairdressing industry and takes part in interviews, photo shoots and hairdressing films. He even developed his own cosmetics line called STEAM PUNK!

Adam Szulc’s Books

Adam Szulc’s first book was published in 2018 by the Poznań publishing house Zysk i S-ka. Its title is “Men’s Hairdresser”. The book is considered an excellent primer for men’s hairdressers. It covers the history of hairdressing and even the types of hairstyles that appeared in ancient Egypt. It includes descriptions of tools and hairdressing salons. All the knowledge related to this profession is contained in a single book. When reading it, it is impossible not to notice Adam’s immense passion for men’s hairdressing.

In 2020, his second book, titled “Next Please!”, was published. It includes, among other things, the author’s biography. It contains many references to his passion for music, as well as a chapter on American barber shops. Readers can learn a great deal about their origins, the reasons for their decline and their gradual renaissance.

Adam also presented retired and popular men’s hairdressers from many countries—Poland, Italy, England and the United States. The book also contains stories of barbers who truly love their profession. A particularly noteworthy section is the conversation with 108-year-old maestro Antonio Mancinelli. The Guinness World Records recognized him as the oldest barber.

The book also contains further types of hairstyles, along with their descriptions, origins and uses. It is another collection of Adam Szulc’s knowledge and interesting facts, which will appeal especially to men’s hairdressing enthusiasts, as well as anyone interested in Adam Szulc’s biography. Like the first volume, the second is also fascinating and delightful!
