The head of the Lower Silesian Roads and Railway Service Leszek Loch admits that the bollards along the pedestrian route beside Road 297 (Kościuszki Street) in Bolesławiec turned out to be a “weak structure”. And that at the time this was the only possible solution:

The amount of space needed to install suitable barriers in this particular location is very limited.

What is more, as the DSDIK director stresses, the problem is drivers who “behave improperly” along this stretch and run over the bollards. And although the agency replaces them with newer ones, it is aware that this will not solve the problem.

Therefore, the Lower Silesian Roads and Railway Service has begun work on a project to build a pedestrian and cycling path, which will be built precisely along the section in question. It will, of course, be wider, which will require purchasing land.
