Compact X-ray Machines
The development and miniaturization of modern technology make it possible to create increasingly compact devices that offer practically the same capabilities as their larger counterparts, but in a more functional form. A mobile X-ray machine can be classified as one of these devices. Despite their relatively inconspicuous dimensions, which make them easy to transport along corridors—including through standard doorways—they provide high-quality imaging. They are, after all, mobile digital radiography systems equipped with a video preview system.
Like stationary machines, mobile machines are used primarily for the diagnosis of:
- traumatic injuries
- orthopedic conditions
- pulmonary conditions (lung diseases, including cancer)
Modern mobile X-ray machines are equipped not only with wheels but also with electric steering assistance. Devices of this type are very often used to perform bedside imaging on patients lying in intensive care units, whose transport to other parts of the hospital could be problematic or risk worsening their condition. Where else are mobile X-ray machines used?
Mobile X-ray Machine – Applications
Compact and mobile X-ray machines are increasingly used in hospital emergency departments. This is due to the possibility of carrying out an examination immediately—practically as soon as the patient is admitted to the emergency department. In such situations, every second can literally count, so eliminating the need to transport the patient to the hospital radiology department may determine whether they survive.
In addition, mobile X-ray machines are used in:
- private medical practices
- clinics
- veterinary practices
Virtually anywhere it is not possible to create a radiology department and install a stationary X-ray machine, mobile scanners can be successfully used for medical imaging. This gives patients access to one of the basic diagnostic examinations. Thus, mobile scanners can be used both for examinations in emergencies and for routine diagnostics.
