We recently reported that monkeypox had reached Poland. Adam Niedzielski, head of the Ministry of Health, in an interview with the website interia.pl reassures:
There is nothing to fear, although further cases will probably appear in Poland. However, I recommend calm and distance from all pessimistic visions.
What about potential COVID-19 attacks?
Adam Niedzielski: – I assess the probability of further waves as moderate, but still real. And he added: – We have to take such a threat into account in the autumn. As far as preparation is concerned, we are prepared in every respect.
Will there be more lockdowns?
The head of the Ministry of Health:
Experience teaches us that even if we introduced restrictions on contact on a massive scale, infectious diseases can bypass these barriers. Travel has resumed and mobility has increased, so we should certainly expect further infections to appear. Monkeypox in Poland has been classified as an infectious disease and requires the same measures as in the case of the coronavirus. This includes, for example, the tasks of the sanitary authorities, namely conducting an epidemiological investigation. We are required to isolate patients in hospital conditions, because this will help us learn more about how the disease will spread and what its nature will be.
He also pointed out that even if the diseases mentioned above overlap, in his opinion, “the risk of a repeat of the pandemic scenario is very, very low”.
