Sales of the €9 tickets began on 23 May. The tickets will be valid from 1 June on urban public transport, in metropolitan areas and on regional services throughout Germany. A ticket purchased in a given month—for example, June—will be valid until the end of June. The same applies to a ticket for July (until the end of July) and August (until the end of August).

The low-cost ticket program is intended to encourage people to leave their cars in garages and car parks and use public transport instead. The program has attracted considerable interest from the outset. It offers an opportunity to travel around Germany and, for example, sightsee at low cost.

The monthly €9 ticket is reported on by transport-publiczny.pl:

It is an excellent offer also because it is valid not just in one region but throughout the country. With it, passengers will be able to travel not only on urban public transport in individual cities, but also on urban and suburban railways, as well as regional trains, including regional express services. This makes it possible to travel successfully between different federal states without being limited to specific regions.

The tickets will not be valid on international trains, including the NightJet night services operated by Austrian Federal Railways, or on fast IC and ICE trains and private Flixtrain services.

Where can you buy the €9 tickets?

The polskiobserwator.de website reports:
