A unique jug was created at Ceramika Millena as a tribute to the homeland of the Ukrainian artist and an expression of her hope that Ukraine will recover from the destruction caused by the war and that peace will once again prevail in the country.

– I created the decoration in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, in yellow and blue – says Julia Sidenko. – All the symbols represent the fertility of Ukrainian soil and Ukrainian black earth. They are sunflowers, ears of wheat, and a dove. All Ukrainians truly hope that Ukraine will be free and will really flourish and be rebuilt – the artist added.

The jug went to the United States, where Anna Krejci from Surrounding Polish Pottery put it up for auction to raise money for charity. Interest was so great that the total value of the purchased tickets reached 2,340 US dollars, equivalent to PLN 10,000.

In this way, the sale of our ceramics supports Ukraine in its fight against Russia. The money is used for water filtration systems providing clean and safe water, as well as disinfectants for surgical needs, through the Waterstep Foundation.

Julia’s story can be found in the article: Julia’s dramatic return, the Bolesławiec ceramic decorator, from near Kharkiv to Poland.
