How does Olidia work?
Olidia consists of a biodegradable volumetric substance – poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a durable and safe dermal filler approved by the FDA. It was developed to stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen, allowing lost volume in the face or body to be restored with newly rebuilt tissue. PLLA is completely safe and biocompatible, so there is no risk of an allergic reaction; the preparation is absorbed by the body and ultimately degrades, turning into CO2, H2O and sugar. Once applied, it produces a very natural filling and skin-rebuilding effect, restoring density and firmness. Importantly, L-polylactic acid provides a gradual volume-restoration effect that increases over the following three months. Ideally, the treatment should be repeated as a series every 3–4 weeks, with the series repeated every 6 months to ensure lasting skin tightening, lifting and rejuvenation.
How is Olidia administered?
The Olidia tissue stimulator requires a special injection technique, and after the treatment a manual facial massage lasting approximately 5 minutes should also be performed to help distribute the preparation precisely. Olidia is indicated as a standalone treatment for correcting both shallow wrinkles and deep depressions and expression lines. It may also be administered for medical indications, e.g. in cases of tissue atrophy. It is also ideal for buttock augmentation, reducing “bat wings” on the arms, and lifting the skin above the knees or on the abdomen, especially after pregnancy.
