On Friday, 23 April, in the lobby of the District Starosty Office, Izabela Pasieka, an adviser at the Centre for Professional Activation, informed residents of our district about new opportunities created for people seeking work, improving their qualifications, as well as for employers looking for employees.
In 2002, 9,000 unemployed people were registered at the District Labour Office, where the CAZ operates. At that time, PLN 2.6 million was allocated for their activation. In 2009, the amount had already reached as much as PLN 15 million! Modernity entered the PUP building. Office clients will find information kiosks there, giving them access to websites related to the labour market and the opportunity to send their CV electronically.
The CAZ’s activities include career counselling and all labour-market instruments, such as grants, internships and vocational preparation. An interesting option for people who want to gain new professional experience is reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs outside their place of residence.
“We focus on a specific person and develop their qualifications. We help people discover their professional preferences and what they can do to find a job. Training at the Job Club helps answer the question: what are my strengths on the labour market?” explains Izabela Pasieka.
Particularly interesting for people wishing to improve their qualifications are: funding postgraduate study costs and paying scholarships. “We promote lifelong learning and improving qualifications, which is why we subsidise or fully finance postgraduate studies for people over 45,” adds the CAZ adviser.
The procedure is simple. An application for funding a particular postgraduate course must be submitted to the PUP, along with a justification for the choice. The cost of the studies may be financed by the PUP in full or in part. It is also possible to earn money while improving one’s qualifications. People registered as unemployed may receive a scholarship.
People up to the age of 25, those without professional experience or any occupation, are in a particularly difficult position on the labour market. Unemployed people with disabilities are also a special group on the labour market.
