– I am writing on behalf of the residents of Warszawska and Gdańska streets to ask you to take notice of a problem that concerns us: the access roads, or rather their absence. We have contacted the city mayor twice, with poor results, a resident of Warszawska Street reports.

The woman attached several photographs and a letter that the residents sent to Mayor Piotr Roman. We present the photographs and the contents of the letter to the mayor of Bolesławiec.

We will publish the authorities’ response as soon as we receive it.

Bolesławiec, 7 March 2022

Mr Piotr Roman, Mayor of Bolesławiec

Re: the surface of the access roads to the multi-family residential building at 25A25B Warszawska Street

In response to the information contained in letter ZI-I.7010.32.2021.RR dated 23 December 2021, we wish to express our outrage that, once again, the city budget has not allocated funds for the construction of access roads to the property at 25A25B Warszawska Street.

As owners of apartments and residents of the multi-family building at 25A25B Warszawska Street, we have been struggling for six years with the lack of proper access to our property. It is difficult to believe that, during the planning and construction of this area, and above all during the six years since the building was completed, no one in the Bolesławiec city authorities thought about road infrastructure or securing funds for this purpose.

Many young mothers live in our building, and every day they have trouble pushing a pram with a child over an uneven surface full of potholes, puddles or dust. The residents also include elderly people and wheelchair users, for whom leaving the property is a major challenge. The roads by our building are shortcuts for many drivers travelling from Gdańska Street to the small roundabout at Garncarska Street, not to mention the lack of parking spaces. This is not a good showcase for the city of ceramics.

We are aware of changes concerning the financing of the city budget and rising material prices. Nevertheless, it is difficult to accept the information that there are no funds to build a road in the city centre, especially in light of the absurd decision to build new road infrastructure near Ptasia Street and Widok Street. The plots designated for the tender already have roads, pavements, sewers and even lighting. The investment currently serves no one and, in all likelihood, will be destroyed by construction equipment during the planned construction work. Is a new road to an empty field really more necessary for the residents of Bolesławiec than an access road to properties in the city centre?

Moreover, buyers and residents of new developer projects, for example in the vicinity of Rotmistrza Pileckiego Street or Kresów II RP Street, have normal access to their homes on newly built access roads without years of waiting. We also pay taxes, yet we are completely overlooked in such investments. Filling the potholes with gravel as a temporary measure does little, because after 2–3 weeks it is driven over and destroyed.

Once again, we appeal to Mayor Piotr Roman and the authorities of the Bolesławiec Urban Municipality, as the owner of plot 110/55 in precinct 0008, to consider allocating funds for the construction of an access road to our property as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully
Residents of the property at 25A 25B Warszawska Street in Bolesławiec
