On Tuesday, 20 April, the Municipal Public Library invites children to music and art workshops led by Eliza Piotrowska, a renowned writer and illustrator. Piotrowska graduated in art history from the University of Poznań and completed specialist studies at the University of La Sapienza in Rome. She regularly collaborates with “Miś”, “Świerszczyk” and the magazine “Ryms”. Among others, she is the author of “The Tale of Time”, “Aunt Jadzia”, “And I Won’t Let You Get Bored at School!”, “The Little Alphabet for Children. Little Numbers”, “A Guide to Polish Sanctuaries”, “This City Is Called Rome” and “Spelling, or the Antics Recommended to Everyone!”. The writer’s latest book is “Fryderyk Chopin and His World”.
She worked at the National Museum in Poznań, where, together with Paulina Broniewska, she created the Children’s Museum Academy—creative theoretical and practical workshops for children. For this work, both women received a distinction in the Sybilla 2002 competition, organised by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
She has lived permanently in Rome for several years. Every year, she comes to Poland for a few weeks to meet her readers. Why did she choose Rome? She says that “very beautiful people live here. And, as we know, the most beautiful person is one who smiles”.
The meeting begins at 11:30. The workshops, part of the “Bolesławieckie Biblionalia” series, were co-financed under a programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
