Let us explain right away: if you have cable TV or a satellite dish, you do not need to worry about anything. However, if you use a regular antenna, everything depends on your television or set-top box. If they are relatively new, you will still be able to watch television. However, if your television or current set-top box is already several or a dozen or so years old, you will need to purchase a suitable set-top box or perhaps buy a new television.
Check the television or set-top box manual to see whether it supports reception of the DVB-T2/HEVC signal. If it does, everything is fine. If not, you need to upgrade your equipment. Below, we explain how to obtain funding to purchase a set-top box or television.
You can receive funding to purchase a new set-top box or television
On 21 March, the service for submitting applications to the government programme providing funding for the purchase of a digital receiver (set-top box or television) was launched. You can submit an application for funding in person or through an authorised representative via:
- An online form on the gov.pl platform
- Polish Post offices in traditional paper form – a list of offices where an application can be submitted.
After submitting the application, you will receive a special code at the email address provided in the online form or as a printout handed over by a Polish Post employee who registers the application in the system.
You can use the code with the awarded benefit in online and brick-and-mortar shops that have joined the programme. A total of 271 businesses have already registered for the programme, enabling the benefit to be used at 1,500 sales points located throughout Poland.
The shop search engine, listing where you can use the benefit, is available at https://dvbt2.gov.pl/wyszukiwarka
