Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, NATO not only guards the skies over Central and Eastern Europe 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but also deploys additional forces in the countries on the eastern flank.

Oana Lungescu, NATO’s press spokesperson, posted a graphic on Twitter showing the deployment of NATO forces on the eastern flank:

It shows that more than 25,000 NATO troops have already been deployed in this part of Europe and along the eastern borders of the North Atlantic Alliance. There are 10,500 of them in Poland. In total, more than 40,000 troops are directly under NATO command.

Also on standby are 140 ships and 130 aircraft (planes, helicopters and drones).
