On 10 April, at the former military casino (Wojska Polskiego Avenue), a charity ball will be held. The event is being organised by the Parents’ Council at the District Complex of Schools and Special-Education Institutions, in cooperation with a military unit. The proceeds from the ball will benefit the school’s students. “There are countless needs,” says Anna Lisiak, chair of the Council and one of the ball’s initiators. With the ticket revenue, the organisers would like, for example, to purchase additional swimming-pool hours for the PZSiPS students and pay for hippotherapy sessions.
“The initiative came from the Parents’ Council. I am very pleased, because this could be the beginning of successful cooperation. Anna Lisiak and Hanna Ochyra are such activists that all I can do is take on an advisory role,” smiles Zdzisława Woźniak, director of the District Complex of Schools and Special-Education Institutions. “The parents of our students rather rarely get involved in school life. Sometimes, however, we come across parents who are passionate about their own children and inspire others with their activity.”
The ball will begin at 7:00 p.m.. Tickets cost PLN 60 per person. The price includes, among other things, traditional and vegetarian dishes, drinks and dancing to live music. There will also be a raffle and an auction of works by artists with disabilities.
“The residents of Bolesławiec do not pass our school by indifferently. They see how much goodness, warmth and joy our students possess,” notes the PZSiPS director. “I appeal to everyone who wants to help others, regardless of whether they are able-bodied or not. Come and support this initiative.”
Tickets can be purchased at the U Szwejka restaurant (Wojska Polskiego Avenue) and at the District Complex of Schools and Special-Education Institutions (Zgorzelecka Street).
