Unfortunately, the worst-case scenarios and reports from the intelligence services of NATO countries about a possible attack by Russian forces on Ukraine have come true. In the early hours of February 24, Ukraine was attacked by Russia.

The Onet.pl service:

In a televised address, Putin stated that the military operation in Donbas was intended to “protect the local population,” that the circumstances “required Russia to take decisive action,” and that “Russia does not intend to occupy Ukraine.” Putin went on to say that he had announced the beginning of a “special military operation” to “demilitarize” and “denazify” Ukraine.

The Russian president called on Ukrainian military personnel to lay down their arms and disobey “criminal orders,” and described the Ukrainian authorities as “a junta acting against the people” and “neo-Nazis” who had seized power.

Following Putin’s order, a number of cities throughout Ukraine, including Kyiv, came under attack. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared martial law and severed diplomatic relations with Russia.

Ukrainian forces are fighting the invader. The number of casualties is rising. At 11:00 a.m., the Office of the President of Ukraine reported that more than 40 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed and several dozen wounded as a result of the fighting. Many Ukrainians decided to leave the country.

Huge traffic jams are forming in Kyiv itself and on roads leading out of the city. Poland is preparing to receive Ukrainian refugees. Air traffic over Ukraine has virtually come to a standstill. According to reports, trains are not running either.
