– More than PLN 1.5 billion went to the state budget in 2021. Receipts from VAT on imported goods amounted to more than PLN 1 billion, while customs receipts amounted to more than PLN 500 million. Receipts from customs and tax inspections in the area of taxes (including excise tax), tax proceedings and customs and tax inspections amounted to as much as PLN 79 million – says Sebastian Polański from the Communications Department of the Tax Administration Chamber in Wrocław.

2021 was a period of intensive work by Lower Silesian KAS officers on the new e-TOLL system for collecting road-use charges on motorways. From 1 December, toll booths on the A2 Konin–Stryków and A4 Wrocław–Sośnica motorways were switched off. Last year, the National Revenue Administration in Lower Silesia processed more than 427,000 customs declarations submitted at customs offices.

In the fight against drug-related crime in 2021, officers of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław – both during independent operations and joint actions with other uniformed services:

  • discovered more than 440 kg of marijuana, with a market value of more than PLN 13 million’
  • discovered methamphetamine 16 times and amphetamine twice;
  • seized 5,264 ecstasy tablets, 5 kg of precursors for producing methamphetamine and 1,400 pseudoephedrine tablets.

The total market value of the drugs discovered was nearly PLN 15 million.

In addition, Lower Silesian customs officers, together with Police officers, conducted checks of drivers to determine whether they were driving after consuming intoxicating substances. Using specialised equipment, they identified 25 drivers who were driving cars under the influence of drugs.

Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Service officers have modern mobile equipment at their disposal. In 2021, the mobile laboratory conducted 208 field tests, while a vehicle equipped with an integrated X-ray system carried out 9,643 scans.

Spokesperson: – An attempt to bring 16 illegal waste shipments into Poland was thwarted. Lower Silesian officers prevented more than 261 tonnes of waste from being brought in.

In 2021, 115 inspections were conducted in connection with illegal gambling. During these operations, 367 machines and PLN 326,000 in cash were seized. KAS activity in this area is not limited solely to closing illegal venues – we are also conducting intensive educational activities under the title “Gambling? No, thank you”.

Moreover, last year officers of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław seized 11 tonnes of illegal tobacco, more than 7 million tobacco products and 7 tonnes of tobacco leaf. As a result of inspections, they also seized 1,777 litres of illegal alcohol.

Meanwhile, at Wrocław Airport, 210 military transports were cleared, and approximately 1.5 million travellers were also processed through customs.
