Competition organisers:
Each heating season reminds us of the problems caused by the poor air quality in many parts of our country. Smog is a major problem during the coronavirus pandemic. Numerous scientific studies have emerged showing that high levels of pollution contribute to the more frequent occurrence of COVID-19.
Air quality in Bolesławiec is monitored on an ongoing basis by two types of sensors (Syngeos and Airly), whose readings can be tracked after installing free apps. In the first half of November, “Smog lungs” operated in our city – an educational installation designed by the Polish Smog Alert. The effects of its operation clearly show that Bolesławiec is not free from smog. Education in this area is constantly needed.
In December, the Municipal Centre for Environmental Education invited pupils in grades IV–VIII to take part in the “Anti-Smog Poster” competition. The results were announced on Friday, 14 January. Three main prizes and three distinctions were awarded:
- Julia Paszek, Primary School No. 1;
- Jakub Rott, Primary School No. 1;
- Hanna Kurzydło, Primary School No. 1;
distinctions:
Nikola Wieczorkiewicz – Primary School No. 5,
Lila Kafel – Primary School No. 1,
Kacper Baryluk – Primary School No. 1.
An exhibition presenting anti-smog posters will be available at the Municipal Public Library – Knowledge Centre until 7 February.
