In an interview with Beata Sulska, head of the Social Department, we discuss the level of teaching in public primary schools in Bolesławiec, as well as teaching methods that largely consist of presenting theory and giving short tests.
When we asked the head responsible for the development direction of Bolesławiec schools about outdated and ineffective teaching methods used by teachers, she replied that she had not used such methods during her 20-year career as a biology teacher.
– A lot depends on the specifics of the subjects – said Beata Sulska. – I taught biology for 20 years and I am not familiar with the methods you are talking about, because teaching is only effective when we experience things. There is no other kind of school than a school based on experience! This will change when we have the equipment and when teachers actively participate in workshops. Equipping schools with tools is one thing, but now we need to know how to use them and what to achieve with them at our disposal – the head added.
According to Beata Sulska, robotics laboratories are to open in schools from January, serving all students as part of Laboratories of the Future. For now, teachers are undergoing training to lead these modern laboratories in the future.
Our guest Beata Sulska gave a positive assessment of the vaccination rate among teachers at Bolesławiec primary schools. It is nearly 80%. Currently, only one of the 130 classes is operating remotely, while during the period of the largest wave of infections (the turn of October and November), around 25% of classes operated remotely. The head considers the government's planned closure of schools before the holidays surprising.
– We are surprised, but prepared for the closure of schools – says Beata Sulska. – We are surprised because the Minister of Education declared that there would be no remote learning. We are talking about just seven days of remote learning over three weeks. This will change absolutely nothing and help in no way – adds the head of the Social Department.
