Thanks to platforms specially prepared for this purpose, you can settle your taxes with the Tax Office conveniently and very quickly. The forms you need to complete are provided on the website immediately. The system guides you step by step. It will also help you calculate the tax amount to be paid or refunded correctly.
E-returns: which PIT form should you complete?
Online PIT Returns are a very simple way to settle your taxes for 2021. To complete your PIT online, you need the PIT-11 tax statement. You receive it every year from your employer. This means that the Tax Office already knows your income and costs, as this information was reported there by your employer using PIT-11. Regardless of this, you must also declare your income to the tax authorities yourself.
If you work exclusively for one employer, the matter is simple. You copy the figures from PIT-11 into PIT-37 and add, in the attachments, any applicable reliefs, such as relief for a child, medicines, rehabilitation equipment and others. The system lists the individual reliefs. Your task is simply to select the one that applies to you. If you worked for several employers, you will have to add together the amounts from each PIT-11 and enter the total in the appropriate fields.
If you are a farmer and earn your living solely from farming, you do not need to submit a tax return. You only have to pay agricultural tax on the land you own. If you additionally work under any type of contract with a potential employer, you complete PIT-37. Entrepreneurs have different forms to complete.
What forms are available in e-returns?
In online PIT returns, you have access to all possible forms intended for annual tax returns. These include PIT forms and attachments. The most important forms available in e-returns include:
a) Tax forms:
- PIT 37 – completed by everyone except those required to complete other forms listed below
- PIT 38 – for people who earned income from selling securities, stock-market trading, or buying or selling shares in a company
- PIT 36 – for entrepreneurs who earned taxable income in the previous year at the 18% and 32% rates
- PIT 36 L – for flat-rate tax
- PIT 28 – for entrepreneurs using a lump-sum tax scheme.
b) Attachments to tax returns:
- PIT-OP – a statement for donating 1% to a foundation of your choice
- PIT O – you submit it when you are entitled to tax reliefs
- PIT 19A – you complete this form if you are a member of the clergy
- ZAP-3 (formerly NIP 3) – you complete it if your details, such as your address, have changed
- forms for employers.
You can print the forms and complete them by hand. However, it will be easier to fill in the fields online straight away. In particular, the wizard will indicate which fields must be completed and calculate the tax due or the refund.
After completing the forms, you can print them and take them in person to the Tax Office. However, submitting the form online is more convenient. To do this, you must remember what income you had in the previous year. The wizard will show you where to enter it. If you cannot determine this amount, the return cannot be submitted. The only option left is to file it in person.
How can you tell that the online return has been delivered by the system to the tax authorities?
You will receive a notification at your email address. It will come as an electronic confirmation of receipt (UPO). Before clicking the option to submit the PIT, provide an email address to which the completed form should be sent. This way, you will have your return not only in the e-return wizard’s archive, but also a copy in an email message. UPO is only a document confirming that your form safely reached the office, and it will arrive in a separate message.
