The incident took place on Sunday, December 12. As reported by volunteer firefighters from Gromadka:
ALARM [...] at 9:37 a.m., we were dispatched to a leaning tree gnawed by beavers in Borówki.
This was not the uniformed services’ first intervention caused by these—otherwise friendly—rodents. Let us recall. At the end of November, we reported that firefighters had been called to a flooded basement on a property in Iwiny. There would have been nothing unusual about this, were it not for the fact that this time the flooding was not caused by, for example, heavy rainfall.
The culprits turned out to be… beavers, which had built a dam on the Bobrzyca River (pun intended), and the water began spreading onto, among other places, the surrounding meadows.
