How is the examination performed?
Zespół Opieki Zdrowotnej w Bolesławcu:
The parent remains with the child at all times until the child is put to sleep. They are then present when the child wakes up and remain with them until the end of the hospital stay.
What conditions must necessarily be met?
- parental consent to hospitalisation,
- the child must be at least two years old,
- a referral from the attending physician,
- a negative COVID-19 test result,
- a positive assessment by an anaesthesiologist.
Hospital: “A condition for the procedure to be performed correctly is also that the child does not move. For children who do not understand what is happening, an examination without anaesthesia is usually very stressful and—precisely because of the anxiety and fear—practically impossible to perform. Especially since no one, including the parent, may be present during the examination itself. Therefore, we admit patients qualified for an MRI to the paediatric ward, prepare them appropriately, consult an anaesthesiologist and safely put them to sleep for the duration of the examination. The consultation with an anaesthesiologist may also be carried out before reporting to the ward at our anaesthesiology clinic. It is enough to mention this when registering.
It adds:
The waiting time for MRI scans for children is long at many centres in Lower Silesia. Therefore, if you have a referral for the examination, please contact the paediatric ward at 571-223-476 on weekdays between 12:00 and 14:00.
