Officers of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław are conducting operations to combat illegal gambling. – In October 2021, they inspected premises located in the Oleśnica, Milicz, Legnica, Lwówek, Świdnica, Góra and Karkonosze counties, as well as in Świdnica, Głogów, Bolesławiec and Zgorzelec – lists Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokesperson for the Lower Silesian National Revenue Administration. – In several cases, KAS officers carried out operations with the participation of police officers.
The results? The spokesperson says: – At the inspected locations, 49 illegal gambling machines and cash amounting to PLN 44,179 were discovered. The seized devices and money were retained as evidence in the case and transferred to a deposit warehouse.
Possessing illegal machines carries a penalty of PLN 100,000 per device. This financial penalty may be imposed not only on the owner of the illegal machines, but also on a person who leases or rents premises where illegal machines are installed. Organizing gambling games, in addition to a fine, is punishable by up to 3 years’ imprisonment, or both penalties together.
