– During today’s meeting of the Voivodeship Crisis Management Staff, we discussed primarily the strategy for combating COVID-19 during the fourth wave of the pandemic, as well as the process of expanding the COVID-19 bed capacity in the voivodeship. The temporary hospital at Rakietowa Street in Wrocław is scheduled to open next week. It will serve as a safety buffer for hospitals in the region, where patients suffering from COVID-19 during the fourth wave are admitted – said Lower Silesian Deputy Voivode Jarosław Kresa. – Estimates of the scale of infections vary, but much indicates that we will face the peak of the fourth COVID-19 wave around the Christmas holidays.
The meetings were attended by representatives of the University Clinical Hospital in Wrocław, Lower Silesian State Provincial Sanitary Inspector Jacek Klakočar, representatives of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office in Wrocław, president of the Lower Silesian Medical Chamber Paweł Wróblewski, representatives of the emergency medical service and representatives of the education superintendent’s office.
DUW:
The epidemiological situation in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship is constantly monitored; simulations of the pandemic’s development in the region and forecasts of hospital capacity utilization are being prepared. Given that more than half of the voivodeship’s residents are vaccinated, the increase in the number of hospitalized people is an important factor for the Lower Silesian Voivode when assessing the epidemiological situation.
How many COVID-19 beds are occupied?
Currently, 1,203 beds for COVID-19 patients have been designated in Lower Silesia, and 674 are occupied. Data on the occupancy of beds and ventilators in our voivodeship are published daily on the website of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office.
The Voivode Encourages Vaccination
Officials:
Vaccination against coronavirus is the most effective weapon in combating severe illness and death. It helps prevent COVID-19 or ensures a mild course of infection. All adults can now receive a third vaccine dose, provided that at least six months have passed since completion of the full COVID-19 vaccination schedule.
How Many Lower Silesian Residents Are Fully Vaccinated?
The number of vaccinations administered in Lower Silesia has now exceeded 3 million. Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated people is nearly 1.5 million. DUW: – This is still not enough to achieve herd immunity and effectively overcome COVID-19.
