We received an inquiry from a reader about the clock on the Bolesławiec town hall and the missing hands on its face.
Why are there no hands on the municipal historic clock?
As Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec City Office, explains:
Work on repairing the historic clock is still ongoing. The clock was made in 1885 at the renowned C. Weiss clockworks in Głogów. Many parts of the clock mechanism are already heavily worn. They have been dismantled and are undergoing repair and conservation work. The hands were removed in order to coordinate them with the counterweight system. The work is being carried out at the Historic Object Conservation Facility in Puszczykowo and will continue until mid-November.
