During the November session of the Bolesławiec County Council, education in county schools was among the topics discussed. The county executive, Tomasz Gabrysiak, spoke:
Everything indicates that our schools will be full for the next six years. Five, six, seven years ago, rumors appeared—usually more media reports than actual facts—that some institution might be closed.
He added:
Taking into account the number of classes and how many young people are arriving and will continue to arrive over the next five to six years, any closure is, first, impossible and, second, would not produce any financial benefit. Therefore, there is nothing to discuss at all.
What will please the students of Zespół Szkół Elektronicznych in Bolesławiec, one of the “two most sought-after” schools in the county, is the plan to build a proper sports hall at the school. (The facility on Bielska Street would then serve as ZSE’s workshops.)
The county executive informed councillors that a preliminary design already exists. According to estimates, the hall itself will cost between PLN 4 million and PLN 10 million, depending on which option the county authorities choose.
Where will the money come from? The county government plans to submit an appropriate application to Polski Ład. We will return to the subject.
