In the first days of October, police officers detained a domestic violence perpetrator: a 41-year-old resident of Bolesławiec had physically and psychologically abused his wife. A 48-year-old man who had abused his common-law partner and young son will also spend three months in custody. “The man threatened the woman, hoping in this way to influence her testimony,” explains junior aspirant Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Provincial Police Headquarters.

Another domestic violence perpetrator was detained in the Nowogrodziec municipality. He had been aggressive toward members of his immediate family. In the final days of October, a 27-year-old from Bolesławiec was remanded in custody; he had abused his parents for 1.5 years.

But that was not the end of it. Two suspects in cases involving persistent harassment were placed in pretrial detention. The spokesperson:

Pursuant to a prosecutor’s order, police officers detained a 35-year-old man who had persistently harassed a woman. The perpetrator and the victim are in the process of divorcing.

In the case involving the harassment of a teenage girl, the police officers, prosecutors and judge likewise agreed that the 29-year-old should be isolated. Officers:

The resident of Pomeranian Voivodeship initially contacted the girl insistently via social media and telephone, and later traveled more than 400 km to arrange an in-person meeting.

Abuse is punishable by between three months and five years’ imprisonment, while persistent harassment carries a sentence of between six months and as much as eight years behind bars.
