Six years ago, as a result of the country’s administrative reform, the municipalities of Gromadka and Warta Bolesławiecka returned to Bolesławiec County. The telephone numbers remained unchanged—in both municipalities, Legnica numbers are still in use.
Until now, when calling from Warta to Bolesławiec, callers had to dial the area code. The same applied in the opposite direction. However, the charge was calculated as for a local call.
The charges will now remain the same, but calling will become easier. Numbers beginning with 817xxxx and 818xxxx will be changed to 738xxxx. The area code for both municipalities will be 075, allowing them to make cheaper calls to all subscribers in the Jelenia Góra numbering zone. Unfortunately, existing calls to Legnica subscribers will change from local to inter-zone calls, meaning they will be more expensive.
The numbering change is not being carried out at the request of either the local authorities or the residents of the municipalities. Instead, it results from adapting numbering zones to telecommunications law.
