The opening of the spring round of the Lower Silesian IV League has been scheduled for 20 March. On that day, BKS will play an away match against Miedź II Legnica. The first round of spring matches, planned for 13 March, has been postponed to 19 June (the match against Karkonosze Jelenia Góra). The postponement is related to the prolonged winter and poor pitch conditions.

Meanwhile, the players are training and playing friendly matches ahead of the spring round. In mid-January, BKS Bobrzanie players, together with coach Leszek Dulat, spent three days at a training camp in Jagniątków. The team trained intensively, making use of the benefits of the mountain climate.

Lost friendlies

BKS plays all its friendly matches away, including on the artificial pitch in Zgorzelec. BKS played its first friendly against Łużyce Lubań (Regional League). The match ended in a 4:1 victory for Łużyce. The next friendly opponent was Zagłębie Lubin’s Młoda Ekstraklasa team. The Lubin side beat BKS decisively, 8:0. Our team also lost friendlies against Promień Żary (III League), 3:1 (BKS’s goal was scored by Adam Klimas), and Prochowiczanka Prochowice (IV League), 2:0. In the matches against Lubań, Lubin, Żary and Prochowiczanka, coach Leszek Dulat could not use his regular players. The squad was supplemented with juniors, which unfortunately affected the results.

Won friendlies

BKS performed much better in its two most recent friendlies. The match against Kuźnia Jawor (IV League) ended in a 4:1 victory for the Bolesławiec side (BKS goals: Tomasz Jasiński 2, Krzysztof Szymański and Kamil Mielnik). The match against Vitrosilicon Iłowa (III League) ended in a 1:1 draw (Łukasz Bednarz scored for BKS). The latest results provide grounds for optimism about the future. It should be remembered that BKS striker Chrystian Serkies did not play in the friendly matches because of an injury.

Plans for the spring round?

We asked BKS Bobrzanie Management Board President Jan Woch. – We want to play this round as well as possible. Given the club’s current financial situation, there is no point talking about promotion. The city has allocated PLN 28,000 for the senior team’s spring round of competition, the president explains. Jan Woch points out that despite its modest budget, the club is trying to secure the reinforcements the team needs. – We are trying to sign several new players. They include Paweł Płachta, a centre-back from Chojnowianka Chojnów, and the Hyjek brothers from GKS Warta Bolesławiecka, President Woch adds.

There have also been several changes to the squad. The following players will not play for the team: Mirosław Kunz (returning to Stal Chocianów), Paweł Demczar (considering playing for Jawa Otok) and Piotr Halkowicz (did not begin training). It is not known whether Adam Popecki and Dawid Kizyma will play. Returning to the team are Krzysztof Szymański and Radosław Szajwaj and Sebastian Łokaj. – Unfortunately, you need money to achieve results. Football clubs from smaller towns have much larger budgets than we do. They receive much more money from local authorities, Woch adds.
