Women’s rural housewives’ associations bring residents together. During meetings, experiences are exchanged and traditions are upheld. Today, members of the Associations work and participate in various events, meetings and festivals organized in Bolesławiec County.
– It is a break from everyday life – says Elżbieta Pachołek from the Bożejowice–Rakowice Women’s Rural Housewives’ Association. – We exchange both problems and recipes. Now it is more a time for meetings and trips; there are more festivals, but we also teach cooking. Many people come to us to learn, for example, how to bake pita – the woman says.
Piotr Roman, when he was the county executive, together with Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk founded the County Council of Women’s Rural Housewives’ Associations in 2001.
– We wanted to create a community for people who could meet, cultivate traditions and pass them on to subsequent generations. I am pleased that the next county executive is continuing this tradition – says Piotr Roman.
There are currently more than 40 Women’s Rural Housewives’ Associations in Bolesławiec County.
– Generally, most members are women, although there are also men in the Associations today – says Tomasz Gabrysiak. – We try to support the Associations, but it is mainly about integration: joint competitions among these associations. Competitions for Christmas dishes and Easter tables are a tradition. The Associations are present at all festivals and harvest festivals. Above all, it is about integration – the county executive adds.
In the opinion of the istotne.pl editorial team, the women of the Women’s Rural Housewives’ Associations are above all masters of regional and traditional cuisine, wonderful organizers of exceptional events, guardians of their small homelands, patriots and extraordinarily determined citizens when it comes to the well-being of residents. On the occasion of this milestone anniversary, we wish them many successful and enjoyable events.
