The incident took place last Friday in Węgliniec, outside a Biedronka store. As reported by eluban.pl:
According to witnesses, the arsonist was a young man from Zielonka, most likely under the influence of intoxicants.
The outlet adds:
Fortunately, Łukasz Kocot, a volunteer firefighter with the Stary Węgliniec Volunteer Fire Department, was also at the scene at the time. Seeing that the building’s façade was about to catch fire, the firefighter attached a tow rope and used a car to pull the burning vehicle to the middle of the parking lot.
Interestingly, according to witness accounts, the vandal claimed that he was... an agent of the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The man was restrained and handed over to the police. The quasi-spy faces up to five years in prison. Details at eluban.pl.

, who suggested that we should publicize the story, wrote to us via Facebook:I don’t know if you know this, but in Węgliniec [...] a volunteer firefighter from the Stary Węgliniec Volunteer Fire Department saved a Biedronka store. Risking his life, he crawled under the burning car, attached a rope, and used his own car to pull the vehicle away from the store […]. The store was scorched, and the façade had already begun to catch fire. Thanks to Łukasz Kocot, the store and its customers suffered no damage.
And added: “Maybe it is worth writing about? Because the young man showed that a firefighter is always at his post and afraid of nothing.”
