During the pandemic, Toyota Boshoku Poland employees worked hard on a completely new project. It is the first project involving complete seats for Toyota. The production lines were changed and modernized, and the sewing departments were modified to begin the new production. This was a major challenge for the company, and when the work was completed and seat production was about to begin, it was decided to emphasize this stage of the company’s development and present new prospects to employees. In connection with the event, a competition was also organized for the best slogan related to launching the new project.

New project: complete Yaris seats

At the ceremony connected with preparing the plant to launch the new project, the assembled employees were welcomed by Kamil Suchorski, vice president of Toyota Boshoku Poland.

– Two steps must be completed for the new project to succeed: preparing the line and launching production – said Vice President Kamil Suchorski. – We have completed the first one: the line for producing the new Yaris seat is ready, and we are waiting for the second step. We will soon begin producing seats that will be sent to Toyota plants where the Yaris model will be produced. I would like to emphasize that we are very proud of this new project, because it is the first project involving complete seats for Toyota – the vice president added.

President Halim Turhan also thanked the employees. He prepared his speech especially in Polish, which is a foreign language for him. The carefully prepared speech expressed his respect for the Toyota Boshoku Poland team.

– Thank you all for coming. I would like to thank you for your hard work and commitment to the new project. Let this be the best project launch. I am glad that I can be part of the Toyota Boshoku Poland team, thank you – said President Halim Turhan.

General Director Andrzej Stasiński presented the staff with the most important information concerning the new project and announced the outcome of the competition for the best slogan.

– We are pleased that once again we can be with you during the launch of a new project at Toyota Boshoku Poland – he welcomed everyone, Andrzej Stasiński. – This time we are not meeting by the production line, but outside, and there is a specific reason for that. In addition to celebrating the launch of the new project, today’s meeting is also connected with announcing the result of the competition for the best slogan concerning the new project. The main prize is the use of a hybrid Toyota Yaris with a full tank of fuel for one month by the winner, while fuel vouchers will be awarded to those recognized in the competition – the director explained.

Competition for the best slogan

The competition for the best slogan connected with launching the new project attracted considerable interest among employees. A total of 108 people took part, submitting 121 competition slogans. The competition committee faced quite a challenge in choosing the winning slogan. For this reason, two honorable mentions were added to the main prize.

Honorable mention I

“When Toyota gets better, a new project arises at once. Every employee takes part and applies themselves to their work, I’ll say that honestly. These new seat variations are excellent, everyone will surely agree. Together we are changing the world for the better, introducing the new Yaris.”

Anna Przybylska, author of the slogan

Honorable mention II

“Today even the mute know that the plant is this TBPL Toyota. Much changes here every day, new seats for the Yaris arise, and when you sit in a Yaris seat, know, my friend, that it is ‘made in Wykroty.’”

Janusz Janowski, author of the slogan

Main prize

“The global pandemic does not frighten us, because the Yaris line is ready on time.”

Krzysztof Seredyński, author of the slogan

Mr. Krzysztof was absent from the ceremony, so a very pleasant surprise will be waiting for him when he returns to work. His supervisor collected the keys on his behalf. The winning slogan, printed on a banner, will be hung in the production hall.

Project history and future prospects: jobs for 200 new employees

Work on the new type of seats began in May 2019, when Toyota Boshoku Poland received an order from the Client for the company based in Wykroty to produce seats for the new Yaris model.

– The appointed team analyzed the data and prepared the machines – the general director said at the ceremony. – From March 2020 to August 2021, new production lines were installed to manufacture complete metal seat structures, which is entirely new at our plant. Previously, the products we sent to the Client were only components; this time we will produce entire seat frames. An assembly line and a shipping line were installed in Hall Two. We must not forget the modifications made in the sewing department, which was rotated 180 degrees. What is important from the point of view of these new installations? We must remember how important teamwork will be on this project, because both the new metal lines and the sewing department will produce exclusively for the assembly line. It is extremely important that the quality of the products coming off these lines is appropriate for the Toyota brand and that the assembly line receives products in the right quantity and of the right quality. In addition to seats, metal structures will also be delivered directly to Toyota, so it is essential to maintain high quality at all times, worthy of Toyota – said Andrzej Stasiński.

The ceremony also emphasized that Toyota is enjoying a very successful period in terms of sales of new cars. Employees are continually trained to meet the new challenges.

– We would like to benefit from this positive trend – said Andrzej Stasiński. – We will hire approximately 200 people because of the increase in production. Let us remember that we must be strongly motivated while waiting for this production. Training and continuous practice are being conducted on the assembly line to increase our productivity and quality, so that when production starts we can deliver the highest-quality products to our customer – the general director added.

At the end of the ceremony, the staff were thanked for their excellent work.

– I would like to thank everyone who was involved in preparing the new project. For the dedication, time and excellent ideas that brought us to this point, where we are now, when the line is already operating and the customer has evaluated us positively during visits to the company. A big round of applause for the entire team – Director Stasiński said in thanks.

At the end of the ceremony, a group photo of the Toyota Boshoku Poland staff in Wykroty was taken to mark the successful beginning of the new project.
